Here we are at the end of fourteen months since the trip to our friend's ranch in Van Horn, Texas. What began as a few fellas hanging out in an old hunting cabin with some recording gear and song sketches, searching for a little inspiration or "a way in", has blossomed into the makings of a full album and a rewarding experience, to say the least. The task of completing a finished, mastered release each month stacked on everything else in our daily lives (day jobs, families, etc) did not come without a certain amount of pressure. However, it brought out something in us, collectively and individually, that otherwise would not have materialized, and we're better off for having done it this way. Thanks to everyone on our various lists and networks for listening, and for helping us spread the word about the music. Which leads us to the final piece of our 2010 Recordings… If songs have a soul, then this one was born in early 2010 on Rob's family trip to Ireland (see Ring of Kerry photo above) and later molded by the band with lyrics written in Austin. By the end of the year, it had found its way back to Dublin, much to our delight and honor. Seabirds is a hopeful song for a broken world, complemented by an artist whose voice encompasses strength and vulnerability, joy and rage, intensity and compassion, better than any other we can think of.
