Lyrics

(Source: U2 Wanderer)

Afraid,
But he will not run.
Alone,
Thy will be done.
Confessed,
But you still
Feel the shame.
Bring me into
Your arms again.
Heroine,
Heroine,
Heroine,
Heroine.
Touch these eyes
With a broken smile.
Touch my mouth
With your furrowed brow.
Lift my heart,
Feel my shame.
Lead me into
Rest again.
Heroine,
Heroine,
Heroine,
Heroine.
The night is long,
But the day will come.
With promises
For the chosen one.
Sowed the seed,
Sweet taste therein.
Fall tonight into my
Arms again.
Heroine,
Heroine,
Heroine,
Heroine.
The night is long,
But the day will come.
The promises
For the chosen one.
Sowed the seed,
Sweet taste therein.
Follow dead of night into
The light of day.

Notes

The "mix II" version is very similar to the regular version, but it adds some percussion and what would become, on U2's next album, The Joshua Tree, The Edge's trademark Infinite Guitar. The Infinite Guitar, in fact, was invented by Michael Brook, the producer of the Captive soundtrack.

Musicians

Sinéad O'Connor vocals
Larry Mullen Jr. drums
